What Affects Bounce House Rental Pricing

The five variables every rental company prices around.

Day of week. Weekend days run $25 to $50 higher than weekdays across every operator in the Capital District. Saturday and Sunday together carry about 80% of all bookings, so weekend pricing reflects that demand. If your event can flex to a weekday, you'll save on every unit category.
Unit type and size. A standard 13x13 bounce house is the entry point. Combo units with attached slides add roughly $75. Water slides add another $50 to $75 on top of combo pricing. Larger units (18x18, dual-lane, multi-room) scale up from there. Interactive units like obstacle courses or joust arenas sit at the top of the catalog.
Distance from base. We deliver free within 15 miles of Schenectady, which covers most of the Capital District. Beyond that we charge $2 per mile, flat. Other companies in the area use anything from $1.50 to $3.50 per mile, and several charge a flat $50 to $100 delivery fee even within their service area.
Season. Summer demand (June through August) is roughly 3x higher than spring or fall demand. Most operators keep published prices flat year-round but apply premium add-ons or refuse short-notice bookings during peak weeks. We hold our published rates all season.
Duration. Our standard is a 4-hour rental window. Extra hours run $35 weekday and $50 weekend, capped at the full day rate, so a multi-hour add-on never costs more than a second day. Multi-day rentals (Friday through Sunday, for example) are priced separately and almost always beat two single-day rates.

Several competitors charge separately for these line items, so the published unit price is not directly comparable. See the next sections for the full breakdown.

What's Included in Our Pricing

Ten items that come standard with every Inflated Expectations rental.

Delivery to your event site. Free within 15 miles of Schenectady. Our operator brings the unit, the blower, anchors, and a tarp on a 2015 Ram 1500 with an enclosed trailer.
Full setup. We inflate, anchor, and walkthrough the unit with the responsible adult. Setup takes 20 to 30 minutes for a standard bounce house, 30 to 45 for a combo or water slide.
Commercial-grade blower. Continuous-airflow blower sized to the unit, with quiet operation and protected from rain.
24-inch carbon steel stakes. Six minimum per unit, more for combo and slide units. Driven at a 45-degree outward angle and capped with tarp to prevent trip hazards.
100-foot extension cord. Heavy-duty outdoor-rated, included so you can place the unit anywhere within 100 feet of a standard household outlet.
Ground tarp. A waterproof tarp placed under the unit to protect the vinyl from sticks, sharp grass, and pebbles, which also keeps the unit drier in dew.
Generator when needed. If your event site has no outlet within 100 feet, we bring a Honda inverter generator at no extra charge. Most competitors charge $125 to $176 for this.
Scheduled pickup. We come back at the agreed time, deflate, fold, and load. No coordination needed; we handle the timing.
Full sanitization between rentals. Every unit is washed with vinyl-safe disinfectant, sanitized on high-touch areas with Lysol bleach-free wipes, and dried before storage. See our cleaning protocol for the eight-step routine.
Customer support throughout. Text or call the operator's direct line from the moment you book through the post-event follow-up. No central dispatch, no phone tree, no waiting for callbacks.

What's NOT Included Anywhere Else but IS at Inflated Expectations

Five line items we don't charge for that almost every competitor does.

Free generator. Other Capital District operators charge $125 to $176 for a generator when your event site has no outlet. We bring one at no charge, every time. We'd rather show up with one we don't need than skip it and have you scrambling.
Free evening-before setup. If you book evening setup, we deliver and inflate between 6 PM and 11 PM the night before your event so everything is ready at first guest arrival. Most competitors don't offer this; the few that do charge $50 to $150 for it.
Setup completion photo texted. Once your unit is anchored, inspected, and inflated, we photograph it and text you the picture with the operator's name. You know the moment it's ready. We have not seen any other Capital District operator doing this.
Weather rescheduling at no cost. If conditions force a reschedule, you get a full 12-month window to rebook with zero fees. Many operators charge a 15% to 25% rebooking fee or forfeit the deposit entirely.
Real-time online booking. Pick a unit, see real-time availability, and lock in the date with a deposit in about two minutes. Most operators in this region still route bookings through a quote form, email, or voicemail tag.

Hidden Fees Other Companies Charge

The line items that quietly inflate the final invoice.

When a competitor lists a $225 bounce house and our published rate is also $225, the rates look identical on paper. The difference shows up at delivery. Here are the most common add-ons we have documented across Capital District operators.

Generator fee: $125 to $176. Standard add-on when your site has no outlet. The customer often doesn't find out until the delivery walkthrough.
Delivery fee: $50 to $100. Several operators charge a flat delivery fee on top of the unit rate, even within their stated service area.
Fuel surcharge. Variable. Calculated against an internal mileage table the customer never sees. Often $15 to $40.
Credit card processing fee. 2.5% to 4% surcharge for paying with a card. Sometimes disclosed on the invoice, sometimes only on the second page of the rental agreement.
Weekend premium added at booking. Some operators publish a weekday rate online and add the weekend premium during the booking confirmation step, after the customer feels committed.
Setup fee beyond the rental rate. A handful of operators bill the rental rate for the unit and a separate $50 to $100 setup fee on top. The customer reads "delivery included" and assumes setup is too.

We don't charge any of these. The published rate on our booking page is the total. Tax is separate and shown on the deposit invoice.

How to Actually Save Money on a Bounce House Rental

Six honest tactics that work, ranked by how much they save.

Book weekdays (Mon-Thu). Saves $25 to $50 per unit. Largest single discount available. If your event has any date flexibility, this is the lever to pull. Daycares, retirement homes, school field days, and weekday birthday parties all qualify.
Book early and prepay. Full payment by a published cutoff date earns a discount on top of the published rate. Locks the unit in before peak summer weekends fill up.
Use a promo code. WELCOME20 saves $20 on your first booking. REVIEW15 saves $15 after you leave a Google review on a past rental. Codes apply at checkout, no minimum unit price.
Refer a friend. When a friend you refer books with us, both of you save $25 with code REFER25. No referral cap; the credit applies to as many bookings as you bring in.
Leave a Google review. Honest reviews of past rentals earn a $15 credit toward your next booking. We ask once, after your event; if you say yes, we email the credit code directly.
Book multi-day weekend rentals. Friday afternoon delivery with Sunday evening pickup gives you three days of use for roughly 1.3x a single weekend day. If you're hosting multiple events or extending a birthday across the weekend, this beats two separate bookings.
